Volunteering

As a non-profit organization with some very complex challenges on our plate, we are depend on our wonderful volunteers to keep us organized and helping as many animals as possible. We believe that our volunteers get back as much as they give, whether it being through learning skills and gaining experience or just from getting the satisfaction of knowing that they are contributing to something greater than themselves. We love our volunteers and are always looking for new individuals to add to the CAF family.

We do have some requirements for volunteering:
1. If you are under age 18 you will need to be accompanied by an adult guardian while volunteering.
2. As much as we appreciate any help, we do need a certain amount of reliability. You must be able to commit to a schedule and we are unable to train volunteers to work with our animals if they will be staying with us for a short time (e.g. 20 hours of community service). We do accept short-term volunteers for non-animal-related help.

If you are interested in learning more, fill out the online Volunteer Interest Form below or come in during our business hours to fill out a Volunteer/Foster Application in person!

Animal Help

Our animals (mostly kittens) are always stubborn about cleaning their own rooms. Volunteers can assist our employees in cleaning cages and our kitten room, providing food and attention, and doing medical evaluations.

Other Help

We regularly do fundraisers and clinics which always can use more hands to help advertise and make the event run smoothly. Skills in publicity, data organization, and specialized labor (e.g. plumbing) can also be of great help to us!

Fostering

CAF often encounters situations where we want to help animals, but they would best be cared for in a home outside our facility. As an example, a territorial mother cat with a group of nursing kittens can often benefit from having a "quiet space" in a home rather than staying at our rather busy Adoption Center. If you would like to be on our list of foster homes when can contact in these situations, please download and bring in a foster application to our Adoption Center, 3954 Jacobs Ave, Eureka, CA 95501.
